Reveal & assembly

Exploding Bloom

A photographic bloom whose petals detach and fly outward along individual vectors as you scroll, freezing at full spread while labelled callouts draw in — then reassembling with zero drift when you scroll back.

Technique

Each petal owns a deterministic vector (seeded angle, distance, spin) and its own progress window, so the explosion staggers naturally instead of moving as one block. Labels are hairline leader lines whose length is scroll-derived.

Choreography spec

360vh wrapper, sticky 100vh stage

  • 0 → 0.45petals travel outward on per-petal vectors, spinning
  • 0.42 → 0.6leader lines draw, labels fade up 12px
  • 0.6 → 0.75hold at full spread, core rotates slowly
  • 0.75 → 1everything returns along the same vectors

Reversibility

Vectors are pure functions of a seed — return is exact, not animated.

Reduced motion

Bloom shown at 40% spread with labels already placed.
